Hack Chinese is a retention-first spaced repetition learning system.
This means, we prioritize maintaining strong memories of words you have already learned over learning new words.
We think this makes sense: why learn something new if you're at risk of forgetting something you've already spent so much time learning (and possibly reviewing many times)?
When you press study, we'll search your entire vocabulary for words you are at risk of forgetting. We'll then test your knowledge of these words, increasing a word's strength (and interval) if you remember, and resetting to 0 any words you have forgotten.
Once you have no words at risk of being forgotten, we'll check to see if there are any assumed words we need to check.
Finally, we'll start introducing you to words from lists in your List Queue.
