You can choose to study simplified characters or traditional characters.

Mainland China uses simplified characters, whereas Taiwan and Hong Kong use traditional characters. Most people study simplified characters unless they want to live in Taiwan or Hong Kong.

By default, Hack Chinese uses the simplified Chinese character set.
